Tasting Notes

Nose: Bright and vegetal. Intense aromas of ripe banana, freshly cut grass, lemon peel and bell pepper, complemented by gentian root, sea air, Scots pine and freshly baked cornbread.

Palate: Structured and lush. Warm tropical notes and bright tones of fresh pineapple and geranium flowers. This is followed by earthy components of coriander seeds, olive brine, spruce tips and fresh garden soil.

Finish: Full and long-lasting. The ethereal finish is rich in cedarwood and camphor and seems to last forever. Ginseng root and spice jar stretch out for a long time, rounded off by acacia honey.

Description

Velier is synonymous with exceptional rum bottlings. Equipped with the sure instinct of a Luca Gargano, the Italian importer and independent bottler brings distilled finds from overseas to lovers in Europe.
The Pure Single Rum El Amparo was discovered in the Ecuadorian city of Jipijapa. Carlos Baque Zorrilla's family has been producing rum in the coastal region of the South American country for 60 years. With its 60% ABV, El Amparo celebrates the experience of the family business.
Zorilla allows freshly pressed juice from the “Cubana Negra” sugar cane variety to ferment extensively with natural yeasts for between five and seven days before distilling it in a 500-litre pot still. After a single run, the distillate leaves the still and is bottled directly. This allows complex aromas to develop with unbridled intensity, from fruity and herbal to tropical and earthy to ethereal and spicy.
