In turbulent times, people like to reflect on what is permanent. And what is more eternal than the sky above our heads? Two small-batch series therefore look heavenwards. With strong imagery, the Horsemen, the four horsemen of the apocalypse, and the Archangels, the archangel quartet, convey their prophecy: cask-strength enjoyment. For this, the bottlings draw on the almost biblical wood treasure of Signatory Vintage.

On the back of Horseman No.2, the Ballechin 2013/2023 gallops into the new round of the series. The dark, foggy label by Tom Thiel, whose art is immortalized on CD covers of the melodic death metal band "Amon Amarth" and our Vikings series, suggests that things are about to get smoky again.

The single malt, which is neither colored nor chill-filtered, comes from the strongly peaty part of the Edradour Distillery. After 10 years, it was bottled from two first fill Oloroso sherry butts.

The Aberlour 2012/2023 also matured in two first fill Oloroso sherry butts - only one year longer. As Archangel No.2, the archangel Uriel provides moments of light in terms of taste against the background of the naturally dark whisky color. At the same time, it builds a bridge to the past of the popular Speyside distillery, which was almost completely destroyed by fire in 1898.

In terms of taste, it is not fiery, but rather richly fruity, nutty and spicy.
