In 1906, Alfonso Romero began building copper stills in the heart of the Ecuadorian capital and laid the foundation for Ecuador's oldest craft distillery. Today, Alfonso's grandchildren, siblings Johan and Ivanova Romero, run the family business from the Andes. The two invest knowledge, experience and an impressive portfolio spanning several generations in their own brand.

Romero & Sons produce using the same fermentation, distillation and maturation methods that founder Alfonso Romero used in the last century. In addition to molasses and sugar cane juice, they are increasingly relying on sugar cane honey, the rather rare, boiled juice of the sweet grass. The result: authentic, full-bodied products without any additives or cold filtration, which are characterized by impeccable technology and quality.

The Romero & Sons 12 yo is a product of two generations. The single blended rum marries very different ingredients: Pot still rum made from sugar cane juice and honey, made by master distiller Johan Romero, meets old molasses rum from the column still, which his father, Napoleon Romero, distilled. The result is a smooth, lush experience with warm notes of wild berries, leather and caramel, which lead to a finish with wine-like aromas.
