The Liberator Whiskey celebrates the legendary Daniel O'Connell, who fought for Ireland's freedom using peaceful and lawful means. But the O'Connell family also has a long tradition in the spirits trade and as whiskey bonders. Maurice O'Connell is now reviving this tradition with his whiskeys.
The Port'n'Peat Storehouse Special is a premium blend with 45% single malt, of which 5% is peated single malt. The malt content is mainly 5-6 year old Great Northern Whiskey, which was finished in fresh tawny port wine casks. It also contains 14 year old Cooley single malt. The grain whiskey is 5 and 6 year old Great Northern Whiskey, half of which was finished in ruby port wine casks. Neither peat nor the port finish dominate this whiskey. The fine peat notes support the aromas of red fruits and together form a harmonious whole.
The Storehouse Specials are always small edition bottlings that showcase the fine whiskeys stored in the stone buildings of Wayward Irish Spirits.
The whiskey was bottled at cask strength, is not colored and is not chill-filtered.
