Description

BDF Irish Single Cask Whiskey No. 3 , Pot Still Whiskey, 55.2% Vol.

The Friend's Collection No. 3

The three Best Drinking Friends Julia Nourney, Thorsten Frahling and Mareike Spitzer are back and they have their third single cask bottling for you. A single pot still whiskey distilled in 2018 from ex-bourbon casks was matured for a full two years in a white wine cask. This cask, selected by the BDF, exudes aromatic power. As usual, they bottled the single cask at cask strength. This means that aromas such as plum, spice and a little vanilla on the nose as well as intense wood notes mixed with apricot and spicy pot still flair in the taste come into their own. In addition, the notes linger pleasantly long on the finish.

Tasting note from spirits expert Julia Nourney.

Vol.: 55.2%

Capacity: 0.7 liters

Country of origin: Ireland

Manufacturer: Irish Whiskeys, Niddaer Landstrasse 7,63691 Ranstadt, Germany

Colorant: No

Aroma: surprisingly malty, the grainy note only becomes apparent at second glance, restrained fruit such as plum and cherry, light zest notes, warm spicy notes with a little vanilla, very subtle herbal and floral, overall a clean and straightforward nose flatterer

Taste: now more of a pot still character is evident, but the malt notes still predominate with their malt sugar aroma, the fruit notes are again in the background, they no longer seem like fresh, but more like dried fruits, especially kiwi, figs and apricots, peppery-spicy notes ensure great complexity.
With a little dilution, the general tenor does not change, but the dried fruit notes become more pronounced

Aftertaste: dries out quite quickly, but remains on the palate for a long time, now showing dark, oily chocolate notes with almonds and walnuts

Note: At first you can hardly detect the typical pot still whiskey characters on the nose, these only become more apparent on the palate. Overall the whiskey is very drinkable and pleasant, but not lightweight, as it has an astonishing intensity.
